What site preparation means here

TerraTech performs forestry mulching only. We clear trees, brush and unwanted vegetation, opening the property for its intended future use. Our equipment mulches vegetation in place, leaving the resulting material on the ground rather than removing or substantially disturbing the soil.

Site preparation does not mean excavation, grading, leveling, moving dirt or preparing building pads.

For builders and investors

Send the address or a pin for each lot, and mark the building area, the drive and any trees that stay. We clear to your lines.

Common site prep jobs

  • Homesites and the yard space around them
  • Barn, shop and pole building sites
  • Driveway and access road paths, cleared to the width you need
  • Survey and lot lines, opened up so a surveyor can see and walk them
  • Utility paths for power, water or other lines
  • Lots for sale, cleared so buyers can see the land

Clearing comes first

Before anyone can survey or start building, they need to see the ground and get equipment to it. We clear the building area, the path in and the space around them, so nobody is fighting brush on day one.

Permits

If the property is within city limits or has HOA rules, check the local requirements before work starts. Some cities and homeowners associations have rules about removing trees. Forestry mulching generally minimizes soil disturbance, because it doesn't involve excavation or grading.

Questions about site preparation

Can you clear just the building site and leave the rest wooded?

Yes. It's common to keep as many good trees as you can around a house. Mark the building area and the driveway and flag the trees you want saved. We'll clear to those lines.

Do I need a survey first?

If you're building near a property line or an easement, it's smart to have the corners and lines marked by a surveyor before clearing.

I have more than one lot. How do I send them?

Draw around one lot on the map in our quote form, and list the others by address or road in your notes. Photos of each help.

Forestry Mulching

Brush and trees ground into mulch right where they stand. Nothing to haul off. The trees you want kept stay standing.

Cost-Share Help

Federal and some state programs can pay part of the cost of clearing brush and cedar, if you're approved before the work starts.
